The highly-anticipated Lexus RC F sports coupe will finally make its official UK debut during this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed, which is on next week. The high-performance will show the public what it’s got when it takes on the famous hill and hopes to set a faster time than BMW’s new M4.
On paper, Lexus RC F should be faster than the M4, as it has a 450 horsepower 5.0 liter naturally-aspirated V8 with 520 Nm of torque, whereas the M4 has a 430 hp straight-six turbo. But the Lexus is kind of heavy at 1,800 kg, and it doesn’t have the finesse of the BMW M chassis.
The RC F comes with an 8-speed Sports Direct Shift that sends the power to the rear wheels via a torque vectoring differentia which offers three operating modes – Standard, Slalom and Track. It rides on 19-inch wheels and relies on Brembo brakes to keep it in check. The car hits 60 mph from ret in just over 4 seconds and has a limited top speed of 168 mph.
The battle between the Lexus RC F and BMW M4 is going to rage on for a long while. The Goodwood gig is just the beginning!
