Ford announced the launch of a new Focus ST at this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed, and it is powered by a diesel engine, so you can call it STD! The hot hatch oil-burner will make its debut next to the 2015 Ford Mustang, also making its first UK appearance.
Details of the Ford Focus ST Diesel are yet to be released, but the most likely candidate to power this car is Ford’s 2.0 liter TDCi diesel engine with around 200 horsepower. Performance-wise, the STD should rival VW Golf GTD.
The 2015 Ford Mustang headed to Goodwood is a 5.0 liter GT Fastback version and it will take part in the Supercar Class, with Ford Team RS vehicle. The pony car has received a very warm welcome in Europe, with the first 500 units offered for sale going in just 30 seconds.
Ford’s booth also features “virtual vs real” race on the Hill, in which gamers will take on former Stig Ben Collins in a virtual race up the Goodwood hill in Gran Turismo 6.
