With the new WRX model, Subaru introduced a new design language inspired by the aggressive concept they unveiled at the 2013 New York Auto Show. It is a very fine design, and light years better than the one it replaced. Still, Subaru thinks they can add a little bit more spice to it.
In fact, they are thinking about a 2016 Subaru WRX that looks pretty much identical to the concept car pictured here. The proportions of the concept will be transferred with minimal changes to the production model.
That means it’ll have a lower roof, wider tracks, and a very sleek profile. The aggressive styling of the bumpers and head and tail lights will give the WRX that mean and dirty look it always lacked, while the curvatious body panels should deliver better aerodynamics than the fairly boxy shape of the current model.
The next-gen Subaru WRX is planned for 2016. It will be followed in a couple of years by the STI version which will look even sportier and come with loads more power.
