The world is waiting to see if Toyota will finally turn the FT-1 Concept into a production car called the new Supra. Based on the public reaction to this car alone, Toyota has got a serious case here, but they are still unsure about the project’s viability.
We know for a fact that Toyota is developing a high-end sports car with BMW featuring a Le Mans-inspired hybrid powertrain. Some reports suggest that like the GT86 project, there will be two different versions of this car, one for Toyota and one for BMW.
Toyota will call their the new Supra, and it is going to look similar to the FT-1 concept, pictured here at the Cars & Coffee Irvine meeting where it surprised the visitors with a guest appearance.
Toyota FT-1 Concept is a front engine rear-wheel drive sports car and it is pitched as the ultimate expression of Toyota’s design philosophy. FT-1 stands for “Future Toyota,” and the number “1? represents the ultimate – the designer’s words, not ours!
