The global debut of the all-new 2015 Mazda MX-5 now has an official date. Mazda announced they will unveil the fourth-generation MX-5 Miata at two special events in Spain on 3-4 September, simultaneously with events in Japan and the U.S.
The initial unveiling is only for a select group of exclusive audience. The public will get their first look at the new roadster on September 6. The MX-5 is an important enough car for Mazda to treat it like a hyper car and tease people like this.
They haven’t revealed anything official regarding the details of the 2015 Mazda MX-5, but we know for sure that it is going be SKYACTIV-active in terms of body, engine, and suspension, and get a KODO design with heavy inspirations drawn from the current production Mazdas like the 3 and the 6. There was supposed to be an Alfa Romeo Spider sharing its underpinning with this car, but that project is apparently in tatters right now.
“The MX-5 is the product that best epitomises Mazda’s convention-defying spirit and our love of driving,” says Mazda Motor Europe President and CEO Jeff Guyton. “It has been grabbing people’s attention for 25 years, and with the new-generation model we’re aiming to share this passion with yet another generation of drivers.”
