2014 Concours of Elegance at Hampton Court Palace may not the most famous car event of the year, but still, Bentley is bringing some of their finest creations ever to it this September. There will be five cars at the Palace rocking the flying B, including two absolutely marvelous classic Bentleys.
The classic Bentleys include a 1931 8 Litre Park Ward Sports Saloon and a Speed Six racer called “Old No 1”. The Saloon is the brainchild of the company’s founder W.O. Bentley, and it was one of the fastest cars in the world back then with a top speed of 100 mph.
As for the Old No 1, it’s a Speed Six with a glorious racing history. It won the iconic 24 hours endurance race in successive years (1929 and 1930) and recently thundered up the famous hill at Goodwood. And it looks wonderful.
The rest of Bentley’s lineup for the Hampton Court Concours are their modern cars, and as interesting as they are, they look kind of dull compared to those two iconic classics. Bentley is bringing the new and frankly baffling Continental GT3-R road car, new Flying Spur V8 and flagship Mulsanne.
