Jaguar’s design director Ian Callum is something of a celebrity in the automotive world. He is responsible for some of the most beautiful cars in history, most recently the Jaguar F-Type. This Jaguar Mark 2 you see here is his latest creation, and it’s a personal project.
For the past 18 months Ian has been perfecting the design of Jaguar Mark 2 and adding his personal touches to it. This is the end result, built by leading restorers Classic Motor Cars Limited (CMC).
Callum’s Mark 2 doesn’t look any different than a normal version to an uninterested eye. But an eagle-eyed onlooker will notice the car sleeker bumpers with all-new vents and mesh grille in them and functioning louvers. What’s more, while the 17” split rim spoke wheels look original, they fill out the fenders completely, which is a sign of sport lowered suspension designed and engineered by CMC.
Inside Callum’s Jaguar Mark 2 is equipped with an entertainment system with a 16cm flip-out touch screen. The engine powering this magnificent restomoded Mark 2 is a 3.4 liter XK motor mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox.
Ian Callum said: “This is a very personal statement. A long held notion that, although the Mark 2 has always been a beautiful car, it could be even more exciting in shape and performance. Whilst maintaining the purity of the car’s form, I wanted to add a number of modern twists to the design. Simplification and clarity was my objective.”
