Honda is taking their sweet time over developing the new generation Civic Type R hot hatch. Following some previews, teasers, and prototype showcasing, the Japanese car maker has now revealed a new, closer to production, Honda Civic Type R concept.
Set for global debut at the upcoming Paris Motor Show, Honda Civic Type R concept is a beast of a car, boasting a turbocharged four-cylinder engine with at least 280 horsepower. Honda says it will be the performing Type R car they’ve ever built, even better than the NSX. Mind you, that’s the old NSX not the new hybrid one.
Being a modern hot hatch, Honda Civic Type R is going to be loaded with electronic stuff that makes it a better driver’s car. The suspension features fancy technologies like steer axis and kingpins, and it come with adaptive dampers as well. You can alter the mood of the car via a ‘+R’ button on the steering wheel.
The new Type R will be offered with a manual transmission and has its sight on the title of the fastest front-wheel-drive car at the Nurburgring – a title currently held by Renault Megane RS Trophy. The UK-built hot hatchback will go on sale in the European markets early next year.
