Honda CR-Z is a puzzling car. It’s a hybrid hatchback with almost no power at all, and yet it is very likable. The new 2015 version is now out, and the first thing you need to know about it is that it is not new at all!
2015 Honda CR-Z is still pathetically weak, but well-built and well-equipped. Starting from $20,145, the 34 mpg coupe comes with as standard with Bluetooth HandsFreeLink, Bluetooth Audio, rearview camera, an Expanded View Driver’s Mirror, AM/FM/CD/USB audio system with six speakers, automatic climate control, power windows and door locks, remote entry and cruise control.
It’s a good thing you get lots of toys, as they distract you from the fact that the sporty-looking CR-Z is powered by a hybrid system, consisting of a 1.5-liter i-VTEC engine with Integrated Motor Assist (IMA) electric motor, developing a dismal 130 horsepower and 140 lb-ft of torque.
Not sure what’s the point of it in a 130-hp car, but Honda offers for the CR-Z a range of performance upgrades and accessories including front brake, sport suspension and exhaust kits, limited-slip differential, clutch, 18-inch alloy wheels and spoilers.
