Top Gear – the magazine, not the TV show – is doing a piece on the 707bhp Dodge Challenger Hellcat, and since these guys don’t mess around, they took the car to some twisty, loopy mountain road and let it loose on the asphalt. That’s what we call a shoot worthy of the name!
So check out the Hellcat as it gets sideways and smokes its rear tires. It’ll give you some ideas what it would be like to drift Titanic:
The source of power in the insane Dodge Challenger Hellcat is a 6.2 liter supercharged V8 engine boosted by a huge, manly blower that requires 80 horsepower just to run. It does repay the engine for that power by giving back nearly 300hp, brining the total output to a massive 707 horsepower.
SRT engineers have done what they could to upgrade the rest of the car to match the fire power that engine brings to the party – with sophisticated suspension setup and huge Brembo brakes – but don’t expect the Hellcat to be a sports car. If we liken a sports car to a sniper rifle, the Hellcat is like an atom bomb.
