As you are probably aware, Honda has put together a very beefy promotional campaign for the new Civic Type R, emphasizing heavily on letter ‘R’. So after the R-Rated teasers a while back they have now come up with the ‘R Side’ tagline and an interactive promo video engaging the viewers and encouraging them to find out what’s the story of the Type R.
This short clip here is a teaser for the interactive video that will follow, in which the viewer can switch between the Civic and the Type R narrative, simply by pressing the ‘R’ button on their keyboard:
Silly marketing schemes notwithstanding, the 2015 Honda Civic Type R, all the evidence suggest, is going to be a cracking car; one that will step up the hot hatch game a couple of levels. We are talking about nearly 300 horsepower, adaptive dampers, +R performance mode, and a super aggressive body kit with a distinctive look.
Martin Moll, Honda Motor Europe’s Head of Marketing, says, “This campaign marks a very significant time for our brand. The Civic Type R is one of four new car launches for Honda in 2015 and provides a powerful halo-effect for the marque. Just as our products are renowned for being innovative, our communications style will amplify this. By way of example, we are not aware of anyone else creating interactive user content in the same dramatic way, which should give it a very strong appeal.“
