What we used to know as the P13 has now been confirmed for debut next year by the British car maker as the new McLaren Sports Series. Apart from proving that McLaren still has no imagination when it comes to naming their products, the name confirms early speculations that the third McLaren model will be a proper sports car.

In fact, the car maker has so much confidence in the McLaren Sports Series, they call it the “Black Swan” of the car world; something that defies belief and challenges the status quo. You will understand what they’re on about after watching this video:

Nothing technical has been revealed about the McLaren Sports Series yet, but they do say it builds on the credentials of the McLaren P1 and 650S, bringing Formula 1 technologies. Just like its siblings, the MSS features a carbon fiber construction and a mid-mounted V8 engine. But being a true sports car, it must be lighter and lot more agile than the P1 and 650S. The feather in the teaser video is probably a hint at this very fact.The new ‘baby Mac’ will be revealed in full early next year. Until then the auto maker will gradually reveal bits of it using the hashtag #BlackSwanMoments.
