Jaguar designers are waiting for the new XE sports sedan to launch and get its feet grounded in the market so they can start working on a new Jaguar XF. Well, it’s not going to be all-new, but rather a pretty major facelift that will make the mid-size saloon sleeker and sportier.
Jaguar does not want the XF to mess with the XE’s market performance, on which they are counting heavily to increase their sales in 2015 to more than double. The XE is a major part of Jaguar’s future plans, so much so that even the facelift for XF will be heavily affected by it.
The 2016 Jaguar XF will get an XE-inspired coupe-like profile and sleek headlights, but it remains bulky enough to offer a roomier interior. The XE-derived styling features not only make the XF nicer to look at, they also help Jaguar gains a more ‘cohesive family look’ and become more identifiable to global customers.
Other notable updated planned for the new Jaguar XF will include an even more extensive use of aluminum for the sake of lightness, a more refined interior – also inspired by the XE – and and a major upgrade in terms of connectivity features.
