As promised, Lexus revealed one of the hottest cars they have ever created in form of the 2016 Lexus GS F sedan. Powered by the same high-revving 5.0 liter V8 used in the RC F sports car, this executive saloon is Japan’s answer to the Mercedes E63 AMG and BMW M5.
The V8 in the Lexus GS F produces 467 hp (473 PS) and peak torque of 389 lb.-ft. (527 Nm), sent to the rear wheels via an 8-speed automatic gearbox. The car features four different driving modes tailored using complex electronics, including Normal, Eco, Sport and Sport S+.
What’s more, the GS F comes with the firm’s own Torque Vectoring Differential (TVD) with two electro-mechanical clutch packs which apparently has a profound effect on the way the car handles. It won’t be as good as an M5, but for something weighing 1.8 tons, the GS F is not going to be disappointing.
That said, you don’t buy the Lexus GS F because you want the best sports sedan out there. That’d be the M5. But you may buy the Lexus because you think the German cars of this class are a bit… well, obvious. The GS F looks and feels refreshingly different. And that is enough of a reason to forgive its compromises.
