Quite appropriately, GM chose the 2015 CES (Consumer Electronics Show) to reveal the all-new 2016 Chevrolet Volt. After all, this thing is more of a fancy gadget than a car, but that doesn’t mean it is not brilliant at what it does. Plus, the new model looks a whole lot better than the first-gen Volt.

The first pictures of the 2016 Chevrolet Volt have emerged from CES thanks largely to the reporters tweeting them and sharing them on social media. Chevy has not yet released an official press pack detailing what’s new in the 2016 Volt, nor have they shown us any official pictures.

But from what we see in the blurry images published online, the new Chevy Volt boasts a more serious and purposeful face. It looks more car-like now, compared to the old model which looks kinda too futuristic, and not in a very good way. That said, it is still not what you call ordinary. The new Volt has some pretty fancy styling details going on at the front, what with those weird grilles and stuff.

As for the technicalities, we are waiting for the official details of 2016 Chevrolet Volt to arrive. But GM has already confirmed the new model is, on average, about 10 percent more efficient than the outgoing Volt, thanks mainly to reduced weight and a more efficient drivetrain. It still makes use of a 1.5 liter range-extender engine, but delivers greater range.
