McLaren Special Operations (MSO) announced the launch of a new special edition model, commemorating the he 20th anniversary of the McLaren F1 GTR victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. It’s called, rather unimaginatively, the McLaren 650S Le Mans.
They may not be good with names, but McLaren sure do know how to make a car more special. Naturally, it borrows styling cues from the legendary F1 GTR, including a functioning roof-mounted ‘snorkel’ air intake, front wings with subtle louvres, Le Mans edition wheels 19-inch at the front and 20-inch at the rear, and McLaren Orange callipers with ceramic discs.
There is also a host of MSO special features, including visible carbon front splitter and rear wing, extended side sills, Sarthe Grey paint job, a pair of sports seats are finished in black with contrasting McLaren Orange Alcantara, and a whole bunch of Le Mans logos.
That is pretty much all the extras you get from the McLaren 650S Le Mans edition. The mechanicals remain the same, meaning you still get the brilliant 650PS (641 bhp) and 678 Nm (500 lb ft) of torque 3.8 liter V8 engine mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox.
McLaren 650S Le Mans is limited to just 50 units worldwide. It is priced at £244,500.
