Following the footsteps of big names like BMW, the Czech manufacturer of economy cars, Skoda, decided they too want an art car. So they asked the Portuguese graffiti artist Armando Gomes to come up with a cool design for the Skoda Fabia hatchback.
Gomes’ design for the Skoda Fabia art car was created in several stages. He first laid down a base coat and applied the lines and geometrical shapes to the body of the car. He then sprayed every bit with a different color, ending up with a multi-colored work of art which actually looks pretty good.
The reason Skoda chose the Fabia for this treatment is mainly because this model is the company’s best-seller, and an art project is a usually a great way of etching the car into to the public’s consciousness, especially as the new Fabia has been available in the first European markets for only a few weeks.
Another reason why the Fabia was a good candidate for this program is the fact that the car is available in 15 different colors, and that up to 125 different color combinations can be chosen for the roof, A-pillars, door mirror caps and wheels. You can basically make your own art car with this option!
