Ford Focus RS Leak 0 600x359 at First Look: 2016 Ford Focus RS

As you may know from our previous report, later on today the Blue Oval will unveil an all-new Ford Focus RS hot hatch to the world. But a few hours before the official event, the first pictures of the car have miraculously found their way to the web.

We have a sneaking suspicion Ford themselves leaked these photos because they knew Ferrari is also revealing a brand-new model today, and obviously that car is going to get all the attention.

In any case, the new 2016 Ford Focus RS looks pretty much like what we were expecting it to. A couple of sporty bumpers with huge air intakes, aerodynamic lips, diffusers and wings, flared arches, beefy tailpipes, and larger than normal wheels and tires. One striking feature of the new car is a unique front grille that gives it a character all its own.

Things are a lot more interesting under the bonnet, where the new Ford Focus RS hides a 2.3 liter EcoBoost turbocharged four-cylinder engine. That’s right, it’s the same engine you find in the new Mustang EcoBoost. In the Focus that engine makes less power, but it’s mated to a four-wheel-drive system. So it can put to better use every single one of its horses. What’s more, it’s a rear-biased AWD system, which means you can pull spectacular powerslides with it.

Stay tuned for the official details and pictures of the 2016 Focus RS.
