New Ford Focus RS is Ken Block-Approved!

The new 2016 Ford Focus RS made its debut yesterday in Cologne, Germany, to much pomp and circumstance. We needed some time to wrap our heads around the astonishing numbers Ford is claiming for the new model. But now that we have, we have got to see it in action.

Fortunately, Ford is aware of the fact that without some context those are just some meaningless facts and figures. And they’ve got just the man to show us how 320 horsepower and all-wheel-drive translate into driving fun. Pleased welcome Gymkhana specialist and Ford Performance Consultant, Kenny from the Block!

The 2016 Ford Focus RS, as we mentioned before, comes with a different recipe than we are used to with hot hatchbacks. It’s got a massive 2.3 liter four-pot turbo engine from the Mustang, coupled with a rear-biased all-wheel-drive. That makes it a whole different experience to drive. The RS’ signature torque steer is practically gone, and the unique setup of that AWD system gives a lot of play to the car’s rear end. All that makes it a lot more fun to drive, as beautifully demonstrated by Ken Block in the video above. But it also means you are going to need some serious driving skills to use what the new Focus RS offers to the fullest.
