The new Porsche Cayman GT4 received such a warm welcome from the public and the press alike that Porsche may well be tempted now to launch a Boxster GT4 as well. The recipe would be the same, since the Cayman is just a Boxster with solid roof.

To give us an idea what this yet-to-be-conceived Porsche Boxster GT4 might look like, designer X-Tomi has come up with these fine renderings. Using the Cayman GT4 as the base, he has applied the signature GT4 traits to the Boxster S, and we have to say the end result looks pretty amazing.

Of course, hard-core Porsche aficionados – aka car geeks – might argue at this point that the idea of a Porsche Boxster GT4 is ludicrous because the open-top Boxster is not going to have the rigidity and structural strength of hardtop Cayman, and therefore it won’t just as fast and sweet to drive. Still, nobody can deny the huge appeal of having 380 horsepower and a six-speed manual gearbox in an open-top sports car.

We know for a fact that a hotter Porsche Boxster is in the works, but the word on the streets of Stuttgart is that it will be called the Boxster R and not GT4. Well, potato-potato!
