Geneva 2015: Morgan Aero 8

Morgan Aero 8 0 600x380 at Geneva 2015: Morgan Aero 8

If Morgan’s teasers and previews led you believe they have come up with a new sports car for this year’s Geneva Motor Show, they have not deceived you. I know the Morgan Aero 8 looks awfully familiar, but it is in fact new. That’s just how Morgans look!

It’s a class act though, the Morgan Aero 8, featuring a sightly sleeker body and a whole host of mechanical upgrades to make it more usable and nicer to drive. There has been drastic improvement in refinement as well, which is a very welcome change.

Boasting an aluminum chassis with exceptional rigidity, Morgan Aero 8 also benefits from some basic driver aids such as ABS, EBD, traction control, and cruise control. The suspension is also modernized, so while the car looks like it belong to the Churchill era, it does in fact stops and go like it is from the Blair era. That’s right, do not expect it to drive like a 2015 sports car.

Power comes from a BMW-sourced V8 engine developing nearly 370 horsepower linked to a limited-slip differential from the same manufacturer. For the you have the choice between a manual and an automatic, both with six gears in them.

Inside the cabin of Morgan Aero 8 you find plenty leather and weather, plus the traditional wooden trims and aluminum switch gear. But it’s not all old stuff, as you also get a touchscreen and air conditioning system. There is even an optional hardtop you can order for the rainy days.
