McLaren 570S Coupe 600x291 at McLaren 570S Coupe Officially Announced

The latest teaser shot for McLaren’s new sports car is an official announcement what we already know – that the car is called McLaren 570S and it will make its debut at the upcoming New York Motor Show.

We have already discussed the details of McLaren 570S at length. But just to recap, the first member of McLaren’s Sports Series family features a carbon fiber tub and carbon body panels, a twin-turbo V8 engine, and a dual-clutch transmission.

If you are now thinking those specs sounds awfully similar to the 650S, you are completely right. The 570S is, in essence, a low-fat version of the 650S supercar.

Boasting 570 PS (562 bhp), smaller size, and lighter weight than its supercar sibling, McLaren 570S is aimed at cars like Porsche 911 Turbo and Audi R8 V10 Plus. The British firm promises the car is a true McLaren to drive, but noticeably more agile and nimbler than your average super car.

The 570S will be priced like the 911 Turbo as well, which means it’ll cost something like $170K USD. We can’t help but wonder though, if you can afford that, you can surely spend an extra 50 grand or so and get the full-fat 650S. Why would anyone go for the discount model?
