If you always wondered what is the point of spending millions of Euros on 1,000+ horsepower hypercars, this video might provide a reasonable answer. The point of owning such cars is fun, and we don’t know of many things that would give you a bigger adrenaline rush than chasing your buddy’s Koenigsegg Agera R in your Porsche 918 Spyder on the Autobahn!

So this is how the rich amuse themselves, is it? And to think this is legal in Germany…

Koenigsegg Agera R might not be as fancy, at least technologically, as the new breed of hybrid hyper cars, but it doesn’t need all that electronic power to show the Porsche who’s the boss. I mean even when the 918 is doing 350 km/h it cannot keep up with the Agera, which at that point must have been close to 400 km/h… on public roads.

The Koenigsegg relies on an old-school blood and guts V8 engine with over 1,100 horsepower, while the sophisticated Porsche boasts a hybrid of a small V8 and a couple of electric motors, good for a combined 887 horsepower. Despite the power deficit the 918 manages to hold its own against the Swedish brute. It is also cheaper and more usable, and we reckon safer as well, in case your fun and games suddenly ends in an accident.
