Hyundai’s latest publicity stunt is a cool one, not just because of the plot and its execution, but also because they broke a world record whilst making it. They dispatched 11 Genesis sedans to Delamar Dry Lake in Nevada to create the world’s largest tire track image ever.
What makes this effort even cooler, and sweet, is that this tire track image is a message from a 13-year-old girl to his astronaut father in space.
The huge 5.5 km2 tire track image is recognized by Guinness World Records as the largest in the world. But that is kind of beside the point. The mission was successfully accomplished when the astronaut captured the message from the International Space Station.
Describing the brand’s philosophy of caring for its customers, Scott Noh, Head of Overseas Marketing Group, Hyundai Motor Company, said, “Keeping in line with Hyundai Motor’s corporate vision of being a ‘lifetime partner in automobiles and beyond’, the campaign highlights our philosophy of caring for customers through emotional interaction and becoming a brand beyond simply a means of transportation. Although sending a message to space with our Genesis cars was not an easy challenge, it enabled us to demonstrate our caring vision to our customers.”
