The first official pictures of the new 2016 Camaro Convertible have made their way to the web ahead of the car’s formal debut due to some apparently unintentional mistake on GM’s website. They have removed the pictures since to keep alive the world’s most pointless embargo.

I mean, it’s not like the 2016 Camaro Convertible is a world apart from the Coupe. It’s the same car we’ve seen already seen plenty with its roof cut off and replaced with a retractable soft top. As with the previous generation though, the open-top Camaro looks pretty cool with the roof down. Somehow the lack of a hardtop suits the muscular lines of the car’s body and its small windscreen.

Mechanically, the 2016 Camaro Convertible is expected to be exactly the same as the hardtop model. Sure, it will be a bit heavier because it features a more rigid structure than the coupe, but that won’t the performance in a very perceptible manner. The car will be available with the same three engines, including a 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbo unit with 275 hp; a 3.6 liter V6 with 335 hp; and a 6.2-liter V8 with 455 hp.
