Ford is not yet done with their UK escapades which included terrorizing the streets of London with a Shelby GT350R and an interactive lap of Silverstone in a Mustang GT. In their latest publicity stunt they took the new Ford GT concept to central London, covered it badges, and asked people identify it.
Turns out Londoners aren’t that into cars as most of the people got the identity of the car wrong. You would think the country that gave us the first car magazine and, of course, Top Gear, ought to be better informed about the car industry. But they all apparently have better things to think about.
The new Ford GT is currently undergoing its final road tests before getting signed off for mass production next year. It will be produced in limited number and will have a starting price of near as makes no difference half a million dollar. Now, that sounds OK for a car that looks so amazing, but not so much when you realize it only has an EcoBoost V6 engine. It’s a pretty potent EcoBoost though, developing in excess of 600 horsepower. We are looking forward to see if the great styling and concern for economy will beat the preconceived notions about large engines and massive power.
