Ford Mustang GT Tackles Silverstone Interactively

Ford continues with their publicity stunts in the UK, trying to create a great deal of hype for the new Mustang before they unleash it into the marketplace. The latest effort shows us a Ford Mustang GT Fastback tackling the famous Silverstone race track, and because that sounds rather boring, they came up with this idea to make it an interactive video.

To be honest with you even with interactivity, which enables you to change the viewpoint using the mouse or curser, switch to a helicopter view high above the track or a front bumper camera, this video is nowhere near as amusing as when they terrorized London with a Shelby GT350R. But the Brits are not getting the Shelby. The 5.0 liter Ford Mustang GT V8 is the hottest ‘Stang they will be able to purchase.

Below is the boring YouTube version of the lap with only a few options for moving around the cabin. You can watch the full interactive footage at this link.

“We wanted everyone to be able to experience a Mustang V8 at high speed on a great track,” said Mark Truby, vice president, Communications and Public Affairs, Ford of Europe. “What makes this video unique is that the viewer is in complete control of the vantage point. They can view in any direction just as if they were in the cockpit of the Mustang, switch to drone view, check speed and RPM. It’s totally immersive.”
