With a production number of just 12 units worldwide, Hennessey Venom GT is not the kind of car the manufacturer can afford to put in a museum – especially as that manufacturer is a tuner from Texas. That is why Hennessey is selling the Venom GT world record car that has a certificate for clocking 270.4 mph.
You may remember last year they took this Hennessey Venom GT to the space shuttle landing runway at the Kennedy Space Center where the 1,244 horsepower hyper car set its incredible speed record. Sadly, the Venom GT is not considered a full-fledged production car, what with it being a mishmash parts put together in a tuner’s workshop. So that record is sort of unofficial.
What isn’t unofficial is the 0-300 km/h record the car set a while back for which it was awarded a Guinness certificate. Basically an elongated Lotus fitted with a large American V8 engine, Hennessey Venom GT is sort of like the Koenigsseg One:1 in the sense that it has roughly one horsepower for every kilogram of its weight. So it is capable of accelerating form 0 to 100 km/h in 2.7 seconds, and we have already mentioned the top speed.
As for the price, serious buyers are asked to get in touch with duPont Registry and inquire. We know the retail price for the Venom GT was $1.2 million USD, so bear that in mind before you make the call.
