An outstanding 1976 Jaguar XJ-C 12 with a custom muscular body and special features will hit the auction block at H&H Classics on 14 October 2015. This car’s party trick is being the star of mid-1970s British hit TV show The New Avengers. But there are other aspects to this car which make it a very interesting proposition.
Jaguar XJ-C is widely regarded by car connoisseurs to be one of the best looking Jags of all time. The two-door sports coupe has one of the most recognizable designs in history, what with that unique XJ silhouette and quad headlights. What sets this XJ-C apart from the rest is that it comes with a Broadspeed wide body kit, specifically designed for the star of the show John Steed.
Another reason why this Jaguar XJ-C is a fascinating car has to do with value. You see, this car is essentially a barn find. It’s been dry-stored for many years and is now in need of a complete restoration which makes it the perfect project car for an enthusiasts, especially as it’s really cheap. It has a modest estimate of just £10,000 to £12,000. Done and dusted, we reckon this Racing Green, 5.3 liter V12 XJ can easily fetch up to 50 grand.
Damian Jones, Sales Director of H&H Classics, comments: “Who of us who remember the series did not at one time or another fancy ourselves at the wheel of this car? Now there is a chance to make that fantasy a reality for a very nominal amount. And who knows, maybe the chance to find a modern-day Purdey in the passenger seat!”
