While we are still waiting to see the first three coach-built Kahn Design vehicles – including the Evanta Barchetta, Flying Huntsman, and WB12 Vengeance – in the real world, the British firm is going ahead with another project. It’s called Kahn Design Speed 7 and it’s an homage to the 1930s Grand Prix racing cars.
Inspired by the granddaddy of today’s Formula 1 cars, Kahn Design Speed 7 wants to recreate the original experience of driving a fast open-top race car using modern materials and engineering. The idea is for the driver to enjoy the sensation of a back to basics vintage racer but with optimum safety and better handling and performance.
So Kahn Design Speed 7 will be built in either aluminium or carbon composite and get modern powertrain and underpinnings as well, the details of which are yet to be revealed. Kahn will be producing a complementary range of period styled clothing and accessories under the Speed 7 brand, so the gentleman racer who owns the car can really get into character before driving it!
It is going to take a while for the Speed 7 to get into production though, as Kahn says they are currently discussing terms with “British firms interested in taking part in the project.”
