In a series of documentary films they will release online, Ford will reveal the behind-the-scenes story of the development of the 2016 Ford Focus RS. It’s the right promotional effort for the RS, since the hot hatchback has a huge fan base who guzzle up this sort of thing.

Ford has been filming every stage of the 2016 Ford Focus RS development, from the first testing sessions in Arctic and Arizona to the unveiling in New York City, and they have edited those films into eight weekly webisodes dubbed “Rebirth of an Icon”. The series will kick off September 30.

Besides getting to know the car and how it was created, the documentary will also introduce you to important people responsible for the car’s existence, such as Performance engineers and drivers, RS consultant and Gymkhana superstar Ken Block, as well as Ford’s Group Vice President, Global Product Development, and Chief Technical Officer Raj Nair.

“The Focus RS is a unique performance vehicle with an incredible heritage. This creates enormous expectation and intense pressure that demands teamwork, sheer determination and a single-minded focus on delivering the ultimate Focus,” Nair said. “This access-all-areas documentary perfectly captures what is at times a bumpy ride.”
