Infiniti likes to experiment with their mid-range SUV a lot, changing its name and making many different variants of it often with ludicrous prices. We all remember the Vettel Edition, right? The latest is the Infiniti QX70 Ultimate edition and it will debut at the upcoming IAA Frankfurt Motor Show next week.
Let’s get the pricing out of the way first so we can focus on seeing whether or not Infiniti QX70 Ultimate is really worth that much. It’s £52,280.
For your 52 grand you get a QX70 garnished on the outside with a new front splitter and rear diffuser with integrated fog light, dark chrome trim front and rear, 21-inch anthracite alloy wheels, and daytime running LEDs. The main highlights of the interior include shiny black lacquer finishes, purple stitching, soft leather. As you would expect from something called ‘Ultimate’, the car is fully-loaded in terms of equipment and features.
Infiniti QX70 Ultimate can be had with two engines, including a 3.7-litre V6 petrol and a 3.0-litre V6 diesel, both mated to a 7-speed adaptive shift automatic transmission and connected to an intelligent torque-sensing all-wheel drive system.
So there you go. Do the slightly revised exterior and maybe a couple of extra toys justify the price tag? Well to be honest with you we’d rather go past the QX70 altogether and spend that money on a Range Rover or a Cayenne. The QX is headed out of fashion, even if it doesn’t know it yet.
