It seems that even Porsche is convinced that every new 911 they make looks exactly like the old one. That’s probably why they didn’t bother cover up this Porsche 991 facelift prototype when they took it to the Nurburgring for some testing. So here’s your best look yet at the refreshed 911 until you see it in full at the Frankfurt Motor Show in a few days.

We have already discussed the details of the new Porsche 991 facelift, but just to recap, the new model comes with more retro look – vintage-inspired, if you like – design. Not at the front though. There everything seems to be the same as it is on the current model. The biggest changes has happened at the back where you get an interesting new engine cover as well as new tail light graphics.

As per tradition, the new 911 will launch with two engine, a 350 horsepower 3.4 liter flat-six in the Carrera model and a 400 horsepower 3.8 liter flat-six in the Carrera S version. These two will then go on to spawn a number of different variants such as Targa, Turbo and GT3, not to mention the all-wheel-drive versions and all the special and limited editions, like GTS, that come in between.
