Do not get too excited. Yes, Mazda has prepared two awesome new variants of the MX-5 sports car for the 2015 SEMA show, but they are concepts, mere design studies. Mazda MX-5 Spyder and Speedster are barely more than experiments with the car’s unique recipe.
That said, what you see here with Mazda MX-5 Spyder and Speedster could in the near future result in a special edition or something, or at least affect a production version in one way or another.
These concepts weigh lighter than the 2,332-lbs and are chockfull of awesome custom features such as Racing Beat, Haartz Corporation, ASC – American Sunroof Corporation, Makin Industries/RAYS Wheels, KW Suspensions, Delta Seat, H&R Springs, many of which can be bought for the standard MX-5.
As for their exclusive features, Mazda MX-5 Spyder has more of a vintage look about it and boasts a bespoke leather interior and a Mercury Silver concept paint color, while Mazda MX-5 Speedster looks to the future by taking the whole concept of lightweight performance right to the edge. The minimalistic approach means this car has no windscreen but a small wind deflector and a unique Blue Ether paint job.
