Following its debut at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show, and a quick stop in New York, the new Bentley Bentayga arrived at the Sarasota Studio this past weekend. The display was organized by Dimmitt Automotive Group who is already taking orders for the British luxury SUV.
Bentley Bentayga didn’t have a particularly easy birth. The first concept came under so much fire for its unfathomably terrible design, they toyed with the idea of dumping the whole project. But after much revision they settled on this design you see here, and the public seems to like it, even though they have clearly played it safe. The Bentayga is barely more than a jacked-up Continental with a Mulsanne interior.
Regardless of the looks, Bentley Bentayga is quite possibly the world’s most luxurious sport utility vehicle, packing the most amount of wood and leather inside, and the only one powered by a twin-turbocharged 6.0-litre W12 engine. It is also one of the fastest, as the 608 PS (600 bhp / 447kW) and 900 Nm (663 lb. ft) output of the engine delviers a 0-60 mph time of 4.0 seconds (0-100 km/h in 4.1 seconds) and a top speed of 187 mph (301 km/h). In a year or so the Bentayga will also be available with a V8 and possibly with a hybrid powertrain as well.
