Following the first announcement about the launch of a new green model, Hyundai has now dropped the first official renderings of the car revealing, partially, the way it looks. The party piece for 2017 Hyundai IONIQ is a choice of three very efficient powertrains.

These powertrains include full electric, plug-in gasoline / electric hybrid, or gasoline / electric hybrid. Combine that with a sleek, coupe-like design, Hyundai’s quality and the generous list of options Korean cars always boast, and you can already tell that Hyundai IONIQ is going to have a good time in the market when it’s released in early 2016.

One thing Hyundai keeps emphasizing on in their description of the IONIQ is that it’s not just a pretty face with a heart of gold. The car is actually find and responsive to drive – qualities you wouldn’t normally associated with Hyundai cars, especially one that is pitched as a green car. But we’ll see what’s what when the car is out.

And in case you are wondering what the hell kind of stupid name is IONIQ, it’s a combination of ion, an electrically-charged atom, and the word unique. It’s an uncool name as you will probably have to explain and even spell it out to whoever asks what are you driving these days.
