2015 was a good year for American car collectors, as they managed to secure examples of some of the rarest and most desirable limited edition European super cars. A while ago we saw the first Aston Martin Vulcan arriving in the U.S., now this, the first of only ten production Ferrari F60 America special editions.
A built-to-order limited edition, Ferrari F60 America was created to mark the Ferrari’s 60th year in North America, hence the car’s name, and the fact that it is only sold in that continent. As for why they’re only making 10 units, that is also tradition, an homage to the 1967 275 GTS4 NART Spider, the open version of the 275 GTB4 that the importer, Luigi Chinetti, specifically requested from Enzo Ferrari for his US clients. That car was also limited to ten units.
Underneath the bespoke skin, Ferrari F60 America is a F12 Berlinetta powered by a mid-front-mounted V12 developing around 740 horsepower and delivering a 0 to 60 time of around 3.1 seconds. The biggest highlight of this car is the open-top cabin, but it does come with a light fabric top that can be used at speeds of up to 120 km/h. In other words, this is not really the car you want to go on long journeys with.
