Following an early leakage which brought to us the first official pictures of the new Jaguar F-Type SVR, the British company has now gone ahead and officially confirmed the debut of the super sports car at this year’s Geneva Motor Show. The only information they divulge for now is that the SVR is a 200 mph car.
Of course, we know from the leak that Jaguar F-Type SVR is powered by a 575 horsepower version of the same 5.5 liter supercharged V8 engine that is used in the R Coupe. Compared to that car though, the SVR gets a much nicer aero kit complete with a fixed rear spoiler, and it comes in both coupe and convertible body styles.
Undoubtedly, the SVR F-Type, made by the Jaguar’s Special Operations unit, is lighter, faster, and louder than all the previous versions of the sports car. But we reckon the very best version, overall, is still going to be the V6 S model. There is a limit to how loud, how quick, and how expensive a car in this class should be, and the SVR sort of exceeds all of them.
“The new F-TYPE SVR is the first series production Jaguar to be developed by Special Vehicle Operations and benefits from everything we know about precision engineering, performance and design. “The result is a 200mph, all-weather supercar that you can drive every day – we even made a Convertible version so that enthusiasts can revel in the sound from the new titanium exhaust system.”
