We didn’t expect to see a brand like McLaren at the CES 2016, but turns out they actually have one of the coolest features of the show. The car they unveiled in Las Vegas is McLaren 675LT JVCKenwood concept, featuring the tech company’s CAROPTRONICS systems.
What has been done with the McLaren 675LT JVCKenwood concept is taking the minimalist interior of the super car to the next level. You notice on the exterior the side mirrors are gone and replaced by a pair of camera blades, as is the rear view mirror. The goal here was to reduce weight and increase the driver’s field of view.
McLaren 675LT JVCKenwood has a black exterior garnished with JVCKENWOOD silver racing stripes and Paladium Grey accents, and an interior with Carbon Black Nappa Leather dashboard, Geometric Black Technical Fabric with a waxy grained finish, and Calypso Orange Nappa Leather on the racing seats. It also features a steering wheel from McLaren P1 GTR.
The technological highlights of this concept, provided by JVCKenwood include Digital Rear View Monitor (DRVM), HUD system that replaces the conventional instrument cluster, and ADAS system which detects the presence of vehicles and communicates information collected to drivers. McLaren is not going to use any of these gizmos in production cars. This 675 concept is designed to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Formula 1 partnership with JVC.
