This utterly unique Chrome McLaren P1 was first spotted last year, sparking a controversy as to why would one do such a thing to a rare hyper car. Then it became known that the mirror-finish chrome treatment given to this P1 is not a cheap wrap, but rather an MSO paintwork. And that changed things.

When you have McLaren Special Operations putting its name on a treatment, it is just cool by default. So whether or not you like a chrome finish, you can’t really bash this car for its appearance. And let’s be honest, the Chrome McLaren P1 – which is the only one in the world – doesn’t look half bad sitting there with its Race Mode on and rear spoiler protruding like a peacock’s tail!

With a 3.8 liter twin turbo V8 engine and an electric motor that comes with a cord so you can plug it in, McLaren P1 produces a healthy 916 horsepower which enables it to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 2.8 seconds and reach a top speed of 220 mph or 350 km/h. The car can also be operated in pure electric mode for like 10 miles, but no P1 owner is ever going to try that feature. It’s just there to make McLaren look good.
