After releasing an upgraded XV crossover in the UK, Subaru decided to treat their American customers similarly by giving them a special version of the Crosstrek, which is what the car is called in the U.S. What this new Subaru Crosstrek Special Edition does is add a little spice to the vehicle’s blend of versatility and practicality.
So let’s get right to it and see what is so ‘special’ about the 2016 Subaru Crosstrek Special Edition. Visually, the car comes with “Pure Red” exterior color and matching foldable mirrors with integrated turn signals, red stitching accents the leather-wrapped shift lever handle, steering wheel and door panels, and red inlay trims on the dashboard. There’s even a new interior ambient lighting system with a “soft red glow.”
But where the Special Edition Crosstrek really shines in terms of equipment. You get the All-Weather Package (heated front seats, heated exterior mirrors and windshield wiper de-icer), Power Moonroof, Instrument Panel with color LCD, Keyless Access with Push-Button Start, and Blind Spot Detection / Rear Cross Traffic Alert System (which includes Lane Change Assist), as well as SUBARU STARLINK 6.2” multimedia system which is an all-in-one infotainment system.
Debuting at the Chicago Auto Show and limited to 1,500 units, Subaru Crosstrek Special Edition is based on the 2.0i Premium powered by a 148 hp boxer engine with standard Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive.
