Many people are still looking at the Range Rover Evoque Convertible with one raised eyebrow, not sure how they feel about this open-top SUV and questioning the whole idea. It remains to be seen how the public reacts to the Evoque Cabrio, but rest assured, if it turns out to be a hit then everybody will be making a convertible crossover.
That’s where this comes is, a speculative rendering of Audi Q2 Convertible. The new compact crossover, unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show earlier this month, seems like a good candidate for the head chopping treatment. The smallest member of Audi’s Q family does look rather interesting sans the roof. We say interesting because it would be a big leap calling this – or any topless SUV, for that matter – good looking. They are just too controversial.
And just in case this imaginary Audi Q2 Convertible became a real thing someday, let’s remind ourselves what sort of engines the car can be had with. That hardtop launches in a few months with three TFSI and three TDI engines, including a new 1.0 liter three-cylinder unit with 116 hp. There’s also a 1.4 liter with 150 hp and 2.0 TFSI with 190 hp. Diesel choices include a 1.6 liter with 116 hp and a 2.0 liter with either 150 or 190 hp.
