If you fancy of a bit of spirited driving and sporty styling this summer but you are on a budget, Skoda has come up with a new version of its Superb that could help you achieve your ambition. The new Skoda Superb SportLine comes with enhanced styling and equipment and a range of really good engines.

That’s the thing with Skodas. They’re really good cars, but nobody cares because they often look so bland. Sadly that’s the case with the Skoda Superb SportLine even though it’s been given a range of sporty visual features such as 19-inch Anthracite Vega alloy wheels, sports design bumpers, sunset glass, and black gloss trim treatment on the grille, wing mirrors, window surrounds and rear spoiler on the hatchback and black gloss roof rails on the estate.

But on the upside the Sportline series start at just £26,490 and the standard kit on it includes Bi-Xenon headlights, Columbus Navigation and Wi-Fi, rear parking sensors, Drive Mode Select, dual-zone climate control, KESSY keyless entry and cruise control. A sports chassis lowers the car’s ride height by 15mm, and an XDS electronic differential lock ensures sharper handling. The Sportline series also come with improved interior featuring Super Sport multifunction steering wheel with silver stitching, quilted Alcantara sports seats, LED ambient lighting, carbon dashboard trim, aluminium pedals and black headlining.

As for the engines, Skoda Superb SportLine in both hatchback and estate variants can be had with three petrol and two diesel engines, with the option of four-wheel drive and six-speed DSG automatic gearbox. The one you want is the 2.0-litre TSI 280PS 4X4 which does 0 to 62 mph in 5.8 seconds but costs £33,295.
