Porsche lovers and collectors may want to pay to attention to this: a pristine example of the super rare 1991 Porsche 964 Carrera RS NGT, one of only 290, is set to be auctioned by Silverstone Auctions at their mid-October sale at Silverstone circuit. And it’s cheaper than you’d expect.
Well, at least the estimate is. Silverstone Auctions has valued this baby at between £135,000 and £155,000, but because of the rarity and the unique specs of this model it could fetch a much fatter sum at the sale. The Porsche 964 Carrera RS NGT is one of the most fascinating 911 variants ever built. The car is like a lab experiment with its factory-stripped blank interior and roll cage that make it feel like a racing car on the inside, but with a completely civilized and actually pretty luxurious exterior finished in Maritime Blue.
Other highlights of the superlight Porsche 964 Carrera RS NGT, which has had only three owners since new, include Nomex Recaro bucket seats, a welded roll cage, an Alcantara Momo steering wheel and 4-point harnesses. It has only 25,000 miles on the clock and comes with the original handbook and the original dealer-supplied maintenance book, complete with the options code as well as eight German service stamps numerous German documents and invoices from Porsche and Porsche – in other words complete service history.
“This is a superb example indeed and would make a fine addition to any Porsche collection”, commented Nick Whale, managing director of Silverstone Auctions. “The 964 is often regarded as the all-encompassing true drivers’ 911, and there can be no doubt then that this Carrera RS in NGT specification is one of the most driver-focused and rewarding Porsches you will ever find.”
