In an effort to make their Interceptor Police car lineup even more “undercover” Ford has come up with a new Rear Spoiler Traffic Warning Lights system. This enables to the 2016 Ford Police Interceptor Utility to have a “slick top” with no need for a lights bar, thus maintaining a better “no-profile” look.

So Ford has made it easier for the cops to sneak up on you. Now if only they could come up with a new camera system that would film Police shootings in real time and upload them on YouTube that’d be super.

Anyway, the rear spoiler light system integrates bright LED lighting into the vehicle’s roof spoiler in a way that’s “difficult to detect for someone approaching the vehicle from the rear.” When activated though, the new warning lights flash alternating bright red and blue bars in the rear spoiler. They are also programmable. The new feature complements the Front Interior Visor Light Bar, a covert feature that provides a similar improvement in forward vision over aftermarket options, for the 2016 Ford Police Interceptor Utility and other Interceptor models.

“Together with our front visor light bar, Rear Spoiler Traffic Warning Lights offer a fully integrated solution for agencies wishing to minimize the presence of their police vehicles,” said Arie Groeneveld, chief program engineer, Ford police programs. “While signaling to drivers of an upcoming emergency situation, it constitutes a clear safety benefit for officers and the public.”
