Although Acura didn’t have a brand-new concept to show us at this year’s Los Angeles Auto Show they still wanted to be in the headlines. So they came up with the Acura Precision Cockpit, a conceptual interior design and technology showcase through which they explore the future of dashboard, as it were.

Complementing the design direction revealed earlier this year in the Acura Precision Concept, Acura Precision Cockpit focuses on the three main areas where car interiors seem they need to improve themselves to keep up with the rapidly advancing technology. These areas include electrification, automated driving and connectivity.

But before they get to all of that Acura wanted to make sure their new cabin concept looked interesting and sporty, so they have given it brushed metal, natural wood, leather and Alcantara finishes create a “premium look and feel.” There are lots “performance-oriented” highlights borrowed from the NSX, and the dash has many curves, a touchpad control center, and a large main display.

As for the futuristic highlights of Acura Precision Cockpit, the autonomous driving feature uses artificial intelligence to communicate with other self-driving cars and an advanced vision mode that leverages sensors to display cars, pedestrians, cyclists and other objects; an intuitive touchpad eliminates the need for interacting with a distracting touchscreen; and it boasts an Acura OS with integrated connectivity and entertainment features as well as electric powertrain support and AcuraWatch suit of safety features.
