Czech car maker Skoda has come up with a new high performance model, complementing the recently revealed Octavia’s range with a ‘top dog’ version. It’s the latest edition of Skoda Octavia vRS, now boasting a more purposeful and aggressive, albeit still weird, design and a 230 horsepower engine.
Mind you, that 230 hp is for the 2.0 liter TSI petrol models. Those opting for the TDI engine for their Skoda Octavia vRS will get the same 184 hp as before. But that’s still good for an economy performance car and should give you a lot of bang for your buck. Skoda’s hot models have always been good performance bargains and the vRS is no exception. In fact, it’s even better value thanks to all the toys it comes with.
The 2017 Skoda Octavia vRS comes with sporty aprons which incorporate some new tech features such as four full-LED headlights with Adaptive Front-lighting System (AFS), as well as the LED side-mounted headlights. The car also gets new 18 and available 19 inch wheels and a sporty interior with vRS seats and leather-wrapped multi-function sport steering wheel with DSG paddles.
Contributing to both the style and performance of the vRS is the lowered suspension and wider tracks, and they work in tandem with Performance Sound Generator, XDS+ and Dynamic Chassis Control (DCC) to make the car more fun to drive. The petrol version is capable of sprinting from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.7 seconds and the diesel does that in 7.9 seconds. You can have the vRS in either hatchback or Estate body style.
