In what can only be described as a moment of insanity Skoda’s top brass signed off on a revision design for the Octavia sedan, a revision that makes the thing look like a terrible mutation, a genetic mistake. Not that Skoda Octavia was a thing of beauty before this, but at least it wasn’t actively annoying.
But hey, maybe they have done this to the new Skoda Octavia deliberately, knowing that the media would be talking about a lot and in this way the car will get the attention it could never have attained living under its shield of obscurity brought on by an extremely bland design. Skoda says the new face is the result of employing the latest full-LED headlight technology. That doesn’t seem to be a good enough reason to ruin the car like that.
If we gloss over the hideous looks, though, the rest of the updated given to the new Skoda Octavia makes it a nicer sedan to live with. The car gets new infotainment systems which can be specified with a full 9.2-inch display, WLAN hotspot and SIM card module with an LTE speed for fast internet on the move. There is also the trailer assistant, Predictive pedestrian protection with Front Assist, rear radar, Blind Spot Detection and Rear Traffic Alert as well as a rear-view camera.
The new Octavia can be ordered with 1.0 TSI 115PS, 1.4 TSI 150PS, 1.6 TDI 115PS and 2.0 TDI 150PS engine with manual or DSG transmissions with six or seven gears.
