No matter how crowded the family hatchback market gets with all sorts of products from around the world, Hyundai i30 will always have a special little place there as a sensible, well-equipped, and affordable option. Now there is a new one and it is all geared up to go on sale from March in the UK starting at £16,995.

Refreshed and more serious looks are only part of what you get for your money with the 2018 Hyundai i30. The base S model, powered by a 120 PS 1.0 T-GDi, comes as standard with 15” alloy wheels, LED daytime running lights, DAB radio with USB and aux connections, Bluetooth with steering wheel controls, electric front and rear windows and driver seat height adjustment. That is in addition to the standard safety equipment across the range, which includes Lane Departure Warning System, Forward Collision Warning System, Lane Keep Assist, Autonomous Emergency Braking and Hill Start Assist Control.

Moving up the food chain, the i30 SE model (£18,695) adds to the list of features 16” alloy wheels, front fog lamps, DAB radio with 5” LCD touchscreen, rear parking assist system, rear view camera and leather steering wheel as well as a 110 PS diesel engine as an alternative. Then we have the SE Nav (£19,645) boasting integrated satellite navigation with 8” LCD touchscreen, Bluetooth with voice recognition and wireless phone charging plus the option of a 140 PS with a 7 speed DCT transmission.

The premium versions of the 2018 Hyundai i30 include the £22,195 Premium – 17” alloy wheels with uprated Michelin tyres, dual zone climate control, electronic parking brake with auto hold function, privacy glass and heated front seats with artificial leather/cloth seat facings – and the £23,495 Premium SE which adds to the list panoramic sunroof, leather seat facings and a heated steering wheel.
