If you have been waiting for a new Z/28 you might be a disappointment that Chevy’s latest Camaro is re-heated ZL1. But you will soon forgive them when you realize that the new 2018 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 1LE is like a realy good Ziti which tastes even better when you reheat it. This track-focused Camaro mixes the car’s inherent American machismo with some European finesse in terms of driving.
The result, as you would expect from blending the best of US and EU, is formidable. 2018 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 1LE is on average 3 seconds faster than the regular ZL1 on any given track, which is a huge difference. It also looks a lot more serious – some would say extra geeky – what with the new aerodynamic features it sports, the lowered racing-based suspension, and the massive wheels and low-profile 3R summer-only tires.
The 650 horsepower, manually-geared Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 1LE comes with a carbon fiber rear wing, specific air deflectors and dive planes on the front fascia, lightweight Multimatic DSSV dampers front and rear and adjustable ride height, lightweight forged aluminum wheels with Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar 3R, and some weight saving measures such as reduced thickness rear glass and a fixed-back rear seat, good for a total 60-pound (27 kg) lower curb weight than a standard ZL1 Coupe.
The 2018 Camaro ZL1 1LE goes on sale later this year. Pricing will be announced closer to the on-sale date.
